It’s Called Social Media for a Reason

Share

I was reading an article by a self-proclaimed social media expert and social media manager. He went on to complain about his clients not wanting to be on Twitter because “that’s a place where people post what they had for lunch”. He goes on to rant about the silly things that people post.

Get your head out of your marketing hind end and realize that first and foremost Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. are all designed to be social and fun. It’s not all about marketing.

Yes I do market on those social networks. I help other people market on social networks. You know what; I also make sure they understand that first and foremost you want to create an interaction with people. Those are designed to create relationships, to create trust. If you are not out there to create relationships and all you want to do is sell I’m not going to work with you because that’s not what it’s all about.
